Positive COVID-19 tests are affecting Michigan’s two largest college sports programs.
Michigan State University says all members of the East Lansing school’s football team will quarantine or isolate for 14 days. That's after a second staff member and one student-athlete tested positive for the virus on Thursday.
Earlier this week, MSU football paused workouts after a member of the athletic staff tested positive for COVID-19.
As part of the athletic department’s return to campus policy, student-athletes quarantine when coming into close contact with an individual who tests positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the University of Michigan has announced four additional positive tests for student-athletes, as well as a positive test for a staff member.
A U of M athletic department spokesman says there are no planned schedule changes to activities at this time.
Both schools have tested hundreds of athletes and staffers this summer ahead of the fall sports season.
