The suit was brought by two city council members who said the mayor's advisory board should not have met privately to consider which projects should get federal funds.

The contempt motion is linked to the city’s years-long project to replace lead pipes.

“The City of Flint’s ongoing failures to finish the job it committed to in 2017 are causing new harms to the Flint community," said Sarah Tallman, a senior attorney with the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Flint officials are also enforcing the city’s new vehicle forfeiture ordinance.

The Alert-Flint system is similar to notification programs in many other communities around Michigan and the country.
