"If you want a job done right, do it yourself!"
That old adage seems to be behind the appearance of dedicated road millages on a number of ballots last week around the state. Eric Lupher is president of the Citizens Research Council of Michigan.
Lupher says many local communities have decided that if money isn’t coming from higher government, it will have to come from local taxpayers.
Lupher says most counties in the state have a road millage of some kind, with an 80% success rate on ballots. He says people tend to vote for these millages because they can see the results,
Lupher says that this sends a message to Lansing lawmakers that voters in the state are ready and willing to pay for the roads in the state to get fixed.
Lupher joined us on Stateside today.
